The browser extension permission screen nobody reads
A look at what “read and change all your data on all websites” actually means in practice.
Every browser extension install ends with the same screen: a list of permissions, usually skimmed past in two seconds. Most of the time that's fine. Occasionally it's the only warning you get before an extension starts rewriting pages or logging what you type.
Reading the fine print
The broadest permission — access to all data on all websites — is also the most common, because it's the easiest one for developers to request and the hardest for browsers to meaningfully restrict without breaking legitimate extensions.
